Whilst train journeys can be romantic, thrilling and captivating adventures, the actual process of commuting and booking is, at best, dull and, at worst, soul-destroying.
Thankfully, Trainine is here not only to counter that with some snazzy-looking features, but also demonstrate their impact in a series of delightfully strange and practically-constructed commercials from Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam.
Led by a Where's Wally-esque hero film (reminiscent of Garth Jennings Imitation of Life for REM), The Way To Train campaign sees familair scenarios given a dusting of surreality by 100%'s Alice Kunisue.
Combined with inventive and charming spots specifically highlighting the suite of AI and data-driven features - Travel Forecast, Delay Repay, Travel Assistant and Train Swap - the messaging hits the sweet spot of familiar and intriguing.
“We wanted to showcase the absurdity that train commuters experience on a daily basis," explain Ramona Todoca and Edouard Olhagaray, Creative Directors at W+K Amsterdam. "It can sometimes feel like they are stuck in a loop, with no solution in sight. All they want is a way out. The new set of features gives them just that, proving Trainline is The Way To Train.”
"The Way To Train isn’t just a brand refresh," adds Chief Strategy Officer Nick Docherty, "it’s a platform for business transformation. It takes Trainline beyond a rail booking service to open up a future where the brand can serve customers at every single point of their journey.”
