Cabin signs editor Yago Hunt-Laudi to European roster
Cabin welcomes editor Yago Hunt-Laudi to its London-based roster.
His first job in his new home is a film for Levis x Nike with his long-time collaborator, Places + Faces director and artist, Ciesay.
Kayt Hall, MD Cabin Europe said: “We’re incredibly excited to welcome Yago to the roster. We first connected in 2024 and immediately found common ground in our vision for where his talents could lead. He was the right fit for us, just at the wrong time for him. But serendipitously things have worked out, and today we’re proud to announce him as our newest signing.”
From Spain to New York to London, Hunt-Laudi has carved a unique path in the industry. After studying film in Spain, he began his career agency-side at the buzzing New York startup MATTE Projects, where he gained hands-on experience across production, ideation, creative development, directing, and editing.
Hunt-Laudi was preparing to travel to Nigeria to create a branded film about the local surf scene when the pandemic hit, forcing many ambitions to pause or change course.
Post-pandemic, upon arriving in London, cinematographer Luke Harper invited Hunt-Laudi to attend the now fabled Places + Faces exhibition, showcasing Polaroids by Imran Ciesay and Solomon Boyede. Surrounded by artists, musicians, directors, and emerging figures in fashion and music, Hunt-Laudi introduced himself to Ciesay.
A few months later, Luke invited Hunt-Laudi to collaborate on a project with Ciesay for rapper Aitch. This partnership flourished, leading to a dynamic body of work Hunt-Laudi edited for Ciesay, ranging from mixed-media and post-heavy films for Nike and Reebok to sparse photographic tableaus for Daniel Caesar and Rema.
This body of work was a key role in Hunt-Laudi winning an Eye Candy award for Independent Editor of the Year 2024.
Hunt-Laudi resists being pigeonholed into a single editing style, explaining that his approach “evolves with every project’s unique demands.” Mirroring the fast-paced New York scene, he initially built his reputation on rapid fire cuts, intricate transitions and dense layering techniques essential for standing out in in such a competitive landscape.
More recently, he’s found that the footage he works with often calls for a more restrained approach. Hunt-Laudi says, “I'm finding beauty in knowing when to step back. It's about having both tools in your kit, the ability to grab attention when needed, but also the confidence to let a moment breathe when the material calls for it. ‘What matters most is serving the story, whether that's through intensity or simplicity.”
His creative inspirations are wide-ranging, including Lado Kvataniya, Lynne Ramsay, Andrey Kurkov, Ken Klippenstein… and the staff and patrons of Cafe Oto in Dalston, whom he also credits as fundamental to his creative growth!
Hall continues: “Yago’s collaborations with exceptional emerging talent in fashion and music are a testament not only to his creativity, but also to his adaptability and the thoughtful, intuitive way he builds relationships with directors. These qualities are essential for success, and for nurturing strong, lasting creative collaborations. That spirit is at the heart of what we do at Cabin.”
