Good Times announced that it has signed director Julian Pugsley for US commercial representation.
Pugsley is a comedy craftsman with dramatic flair, engineering slightly off-kilter worlds that are both silly and stylish.
With a cinematic eye and twisted sense of humor, Pugsley is an agency creative turned filmmaker who excels at delivering visually sharp projects tinged with madness. His expansive commercial portfolio includes campaigns for Amazon, Mercedes, Doritos, Miller, and K-Mart, among others. Many agencies, including BBH, BBDO, DDB, Droga5, Fallon, Fred & Farid, and Mischief, have enlisted his innate talent for capturing the right mood and tone. At the same time, his work has earned award recognition from Cannes Lions, the One Show, and the Clios.
A UK native, Pugsley embarked on his directorial career after discovering his fascination for the craft, working as a creative director on commercial shoots. He devoured every resource he could find to hone his skills, including attending NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and studying cinematography at The New School. As a result, he’s deeply knowledgeable about the creative and technical aspects of filmmaking, which gives him the confidence to experiment and uncover moments of brilliance. He views shoot days as magical, where words, pictures, and preparation start to transform into an engaging story. He’s always plotting how to make his shoots more fun for everyone involved.
“Directing is the best job in the world,” said Pugsley. “You start with words on a page and end up with something alive, something that makes people feel. Good Times has that rare combination of creative nerve and technical precision, the perfect place to push boundaries and have a bit of fun doing it. Joining Good Times was a no-brainer. They have that mischievous, let’s-actually-do-something-great energy that I love.”
“Julian has a distinct point of view and knows how to toe right up to the line but maintain restraint. As a result, his work is interesting, impeccable, and unexpected,” said Eric McCasline, Good Times Co-Founder and Executive Producer. “We’re stoked to have him at Good Times and push through boundaries together.”
Pugsley splits his time between New York and the UK, and is also represented by Royal Budapest in Europe.
