Dedicated to all those whose lives are affected by cancer every day, new-land’s Naghmeh Pour directs a symbolic new film for Danish TV broadcaster, TV2 and the Danish Cancer Society.

Danish sports star, Mikkel Hansen, known as the world’s greatest handball player, shaves his characteristically long hair in support of the fight against cancer.

Everyone knows someone. A line created from the sobering statistic that one in three of us will be diagnosed with cancer before the age of 75. Pour’s minimalistic and bold approach brings quiet optimism; the silence carries meaning, the simplicity carries strength.

“The film is about recognition and hope. My intention was to create a moment that feels genuine - where you can sense the human being, Mikkel Hansen, not just the athlete. The handball court is part of Mikkel’s story, but here it creates a visual and symbolic contrast. It’s a place we normally associate with strength and performance, but here it becomes a quiet, dark space that allows Mikkel to step forward as a person. His personal connection gave the film the authenticity I was looking for. It made it possible to tell a story that goes beyond Mikkel as the world’s best handball player.” said Pour.

“Cancer doesn’t only strike the person who gets ill, it affects everyone around them. My father was diagnosed with cancer himself, fortunately, he’s doing well today. Cutting my hair is my way of showing that we stand together in the fight against cancer.” adds Mikkel Hansen.
