Shiny hosted another installation of their Showcase at Uncommon Creative Studio in London on May 6th.

The Showcases are a smaller, more intimate version of the Awards but stay true to the promise of delivering an exciting lineup of the latest, must-see work in emerging directing talent.

Attendees from production and post companies, agencies, and brands gathered to a selection of great films that stay true to Shiny’s promise to showcase at least 70% of work by directors from under-represented demographics.

Uncommon’s Executive Producer, Simone Maggi, Assistant Producer Charlene Maningding and Senior Creative Quba Tuakli selected the winners and the event sponsors contributed additional prizes.

The night was commended for the exceptional level of talent presented on the night. Barny Wright (CEO, No.8) noted that “it was great to see so much amazing work from underrepresented directors. Thank you to Shiny for the invite and Uncommon for hosting in their beautiful space. Congratulations to all the winners too!”

Shiny continues to be an invaluable resource for upcoming directors wanting to break into the advertising world. It provides a platform for their work to be seen and gives them confidence to keep pushing in a difficult and competitive industry.

Winner Dell'omodarme who isn’t “a director by trade” was “genuinely surprised by this recognition. Hedidn’t expect a personal short film to receive this much attention” and offers his thanks to all involved in putting on the showcase.

Winner Hu notes that he is “really grateful for the acknowledgement of Le Berrad - the spirit of M’bera. This project has been an incredible collaboration between so many different people, without whom it would never have become such a wonderful film. It’s a great example of how a team can inspire each other, leading to an exciting outcome.”
