What website(s) do you use most regularly?
Packshotmag; it's the French version of shots. I work a lot with French clients and it’s a great place to check out new work and connect with people in the industry.
What’s the most recent piece of tech that you’ve bought?
My Lynk & Co. It’s my car - it’s comfortable, safe, big, yet super-easy to drive, and it runs many kms on electric, not fuel!
What product could you not live without?
My iPhone 13!
What’s the best film you’ve seen over the last year?
Saltburn. I liked the fine portrait the director did of all the characters, the sarcasm, the complexity and the unexpected twist.
What film do you think everyone should have seen?
La Grande Bellezza. As its names reads, it’s a visual poem full of beauty. I liked the imagery, the light, how the director managed to capture the emotional universe of our main character, and the beauty and elegance of what surrounds him.
What’s your favourite podcast?
Happy Horses (in Spanish Felices Caballos). I love horses. It’s not just riding them or doing ground work, I love taking care of them and learning about them. Spending time with these magnificent animals, without asking them for anything, makes me really happy. They are very special, sensitive animals, who can see right through you. It’s a shame so many people misunderstand them and just use them. Horses are great teachers.
What have you been most inspired by recently?
Ethology [the study of animal behaviour]. The more I learn about animals, the more I’m in awe of them.
If you could only listen to one music artist from now on, who would it be?
Stevie Wonder, because of his voice, his range and the emotion that comes through in all of his songs.
If there was one thing you could change about the advertising industry, what would it be?
Less egos, more sense of humour. I think sometimes people are too wrapped up in the roles they think they must fulfil. Our work is very collaborative and the quality of our relationships in each project makes all the difference. We are always going to have last minute challenges, but when we collaborate well, we can always find solutions. The best jobs that I can remember are not only the ones that result in beautiful films, but the ones where I’ve worked with the best and most collaborative teams and clients. I remember the ones where I have worked really hard, but where I have met great people along the way and shared a positive and mutual sense of humour.
Who or what has most influenced your career?
My first boss: Michael Solomon. He gave me the opportunity to get my first solid job in New York, in a production company. He taught me that there is always a solution to our problems, to keep calm and to never lose our sense of humour. I think these are very important tools for life and our line of work.
What scares you the most?
Getting a call from my daughter’s school.
What makes you happiest?
Horses.
Tell us one thing about yourself that most people wouldn’t know.
I’m half Peruvian.
