MyMama Entertainment announces the arrival of Ricardo Souza to its casting of scene directors.

With approaches that emphasise Brazilian culture and the country's most pressing social issues, Souza gained international prominence with the music video Funk Rave by singer Anitta, which made him the first Brazilian to win the VMA for Best Latin Music Video, alongside João Wainer. His partnership with the Rio de Janeiro singer has already yielded five music videos.

Still in the music world, he directed works for names such as Djonga, Rico Dalasam, Dexter, Boombeat, and CESCO.blz - his first collaboration with an international artist, through the music video Many Faces. The film won awards at several festivals, such as the Europe Music Video Awards, Berlin Indie Film Festival, and Music Video Awards.

Among his advertising work, he has created campaigns for brands such as Vult, L’Occitane, Pringles, and Itaú, the latter starring Fernanda Torres and directed in partnership with Andrucha Waddington. He also created the celebrated fashion film Sankofa, made for SPFW.

In 2023, he was recognised as Best New Director at the prestigious Whext Awards, for which he served as a judge in the 2024 edition. In the same year, he also joined the juries of the Ciclope Latino and Ciclope Festival, in São Paulo and Berlin, respectively. In 2025, he will be part of the jury for the Festival do Clube de Criação and the Profissionais do Ano awards. Ricardo is the founder of BTFLY Coletivo, a post-production company specialising in tailor-made solutions, combining technical excellence and authorial language for each project.

“Joining MyMama is a very special step in my career. I have always sought to tell stories that convey the strength of our culture and address the urgent issues facing our country. At MyMama, I find a powerful space to expand this perspective and continue building narratives that connect music, advertising, and cinema with truth and impact,” says Ricardo

“We are proud of the team of directors we have built over the years, artists who elevate our brand every day. Ricardo's arrival is another step in this direction: continuing to strengthen MyMama as a space of excellence, where talent and consistency come together to generate relevant narratives,” says André Pinho.
