Sticker Studios has wrapped up another successful Women in Film event, gathering people from across the industry and championing female talent from creative agencies, production, post-production and crew.

This month Sticker partnered with Harbor, a talent-driven, creatively led studio dedicated to quality and craft, which has cultivated an environment where artistry thrives and creative possibilities expand. Screening work from a curated panel of women of diverse backgrounds to highlight their experiences and achievements.

Leading the panel was Leah Ayinde, Lead Compositor at Harbor Pictures. After discovering a passion for stop-motion animation at university, Ayinde became a runner and worked her way up to find her path in compositing. She reflected on how male-dominated her corner of the industry has felt; wondering whether the technical nature of the role discourages women from pursuing it, and if so, why. Although she acknowledges progress over the years, she also notes the significant gap that still remains. Leah showcased her impressive body of work, spanning music videos to a moving campaign for Gatorade.

Next on the panel was director Shreya Jha, who spoke about her remarkable journey from growing up in India to taking a bold leap of faith and moving to the UK to pursue her directing career. She began as a runner, working on productions such as Coronation Street, before swiftly progressing into the camera department, where she refined her craft and built a strong technical foundation. From there, Jha ventured into directing music videos and fashion films, carving out a distinctive visual voice. Her talent and dedication have since led her to collaborate with major global brands, including Burberry and Nike.

Finally, we heard from Jessie Garmell, Senior Producer at Uncommon, who shared insights from her extensive experience shooting high-profile campaigns with talent such as Michael Jordan. She spoke about navigating last-minute challenges in production, shifting between feminine and masculine energies, and capturing extraordinary moments from filming an empty Trafalgar Square from a helicopter at dawn, to shooting basketball scenes inside an abandoned bank in Paris. Garmell’s continued growth in the industry has led her to helm a strong team. She highlighted the crucial role of her PAs, expressing deep appreciation for their support and the solid foundation they provide. She also gave a shout out to her greatest role model, her mother, and emphasised her ongoing commitment to seeking out exceptional female directors to champion.

As 2025 comes to a close, these bi-monthly events would not be possible without the support of collaborators and the attendees who participate each month to champion Women in Film. Anyone interested in attending the next event please contact Viviana from Sticker Studios - viviana@stickerstudios.co
