It’s a well-known truth that a film’s villain can mow down a room full of people without losing the audience’s sympathy - but harm an animal, and all bets are off.
With this in mind, it's no surprise that the antagonist in this powerful and heartbreaking film for 30 Millions d'amis Foundation gets us so mad we could bodyslam our laptops.
Created in collaboration with the agency Altmann+Partners, Day After Day sees an abusive owner mistreat his pet in a variety of situations, only for an eventual rug-pull revelation that they were all actually different animals subjected to his cruelty.
With subtle and thoughtful direction by Benjamin Parent through Frenzy, this compelling urge to act against reoffending pushes all of the right buttons.
