Coffee & TV LA hires colourist Derek Hansen
The creative studio expands its US colour department with the former AFX Creative lead.
Coffee & TV has added Derek Hansen to its Los Angeles studio as colourist, where he will co-lead the growing colour department alongside executive producer Adam Reeb.
Hansen joins from AFX Creative, where he spent five years launching and building the colour department. His portfolio there included three years of work on Wendy’s, automotive projects for Chevy and Cadillac, and a Chevrolet holiday campaign directed by Joshua Kissi, which won an AICP Award in 2023.
“Derek brings a rare blend of narrative instinct and technical artistry,” said Reeb. “He’s exactly the kind of talent who helps agencies and brands elevate their visual storytelling, and we’re super excited he’s bringing that energy to Coffee & TV LA.”
Earlier in his career, Hansen trained under colourist Mark Gethin at MPC LA before holding positions at Velem and The Mill LA. He also continues to collaborate with director Greg Hunt, now creative director at Adidas Skateboarding, on Vans projects and skate documentaries.
“What drew me to Coffee & TV is the studio’s commitment to craft without the ego,” said Hansen. “There’s a genuine sense of collaboration and a vision for building something lasting in LA.”
With studios in Los Angeles, New York and London, Coffee & TV continues to expand its offering in design, VFX, animation and colour for agencies, production companies and direct-to-brand clients.
