Ancient chants normally can grab a couple, Michael Jackson's moves might resurrect a few of them, but it turns out that if you really want to resurrect an army of the dead, you need some heavy metal.

Created to promote Copenhell, Denmark’s biggest rock and metal festival, 666 Reasons to Party is a cheerfully gruesome love letter to 80s zombie classics like Return Of The Living Dead and Night of the Creeps, with new—land director Casper Balslev leaning heavily into the gruesomely goofy mannerisms of metal monsters.

“Copenhell is a fantastic brand to play with in this way," explains Balslev. "I’ve been a guest since the very first year of the festival, and I grew up with heavy metal. Copenhell has become a major cultural event in Copenhagen, drawing a broad and incredibly dedicated audience. I see it as being in the same fine cultural league as the Royal Danish Theatre, for whom I’ve also made films.

There are so many elements to bring into cinematic storytelling here. And honestly, Copenhell is a brand where you can truly unleash the zombies. We went all in on the SFX makeup – and together with some of the country’s best make-up artists, including Marie Refslund and Stefanie Pfeiffer from Beautyboosters, as well as Louise Bruun – plus Bacon X on post, we created a universe that reeks of genuine horror.”
