The obligatory 'turn your phones onto silent mode' messages that appear before films in cinemas nowadays are as generic and ubiquitous as the stale popcorn and irritating latecomers - so much part of the furniture that they are largely ignored.
To combat this, Telstra has enlisted the talents of Bear Meets Eagle on Fire, +61 and FINCH director Dougal Wilson to intrigue (and, hopefully, cut through to) its audiences with a hefty dollop of period flair and overarching whimsy.
All presented in B&W with appropriately charming scores, Mirror Mirror, Four Legged Friend, and Magnetic Boy act as delightful teases; Wilson displaying that his recent foray into long-form directing hasn't dampened his ability to draw narrative from tight timeframes.
“So much care and craft has gone into these, I can’t wait to see them before some animated film my kids make me watch,” comments Brent Smart, CMO of Telstra.
Micah Walker, Founder and Chief Creative Officer of Bear Meets Eagle On Fire, notes: “This is such a simple, fun idea and getting to work with Dougal again has just made that even better. We couldn’t be happier with how they’ve come to life.”
“It was a delight to work with Micah and his team and Telstra on such a fun project," adds Wilson. "I loved these ideas and crafting them with my wonderful production team and crew was a hugely enjoyable experience.”
