After his explosive debut promo for Belfast rap provocateurs Kneecap, Recap, Riff Raff's Finn Keenan is back for more, and this time he's on a comedown.
Starring Derry Girls' Jamie Lee O’Donnell, the vid for new track Sayōnara, created in collaboration with Orbital’s Paul Hartnoll, sees the dregs of the night before invade the senses of an office worker.
Leaning into the throbbing beat of the song itself, Keenan intersplices dingy mundanity with sweaty, rebellious imagery; O’Donnell turning in a cracking performance as both hangovee and raver accordingly.
"The intensity and ominous tone of Sayõnara reminded me of both the best nights out and the brutal days that followed," explains Keenan. "That’s what sparked the idea. But I wanted to turn a typical dance video on its head and focus on the aftermath and how the chemicals in your body change as the week progresses.
"I wanted to capture the visceral intensity of paranoia and intrusive thoughts. Somehow, that 'never again' anxiety of Monday slowly shifts by Friday into a 'Weekend is here. Monday will never happen again!' optimism."
