Creative production company Golden LA has signed Colombian-American filmmaker Jonatán López for US commercial representation.

Born in Cali, Colombia and raised in Florida, López has carved out a dynamic career as a director, with roots in writing, creative directing, and editing. Known for his signature style of marrying cinematic and mixed-media world-building with a playful, culturally attuned sensibility, López has helmed campaigns for Expedia, Apple, Brooks Running, Coinbase, and VRBO and more.

López's path began in editing, collaborating with the likes of Terrence Malick, Richard Linklater, and Beyoncé before transitioning into creative development at Spotify, where he spearheaded original series including Ascent (spotlighting emerging Black artists), Caviar Chronicles (an animated series with Trippie Redd and Vince Staples), and Butt Dial (a comedy podcast with HAIM, Phoebe Bridgers, and Aminé).

His work has screened at Cannes, Tribeca, and SXSW, where his VR documentary won the Audience Jury Prize, and he has earned recognition from the Webby Awards (2022) and the Young Director Award (2024). He is currently developing an anime series with Sony Pictures Television inspired by his family’s story.

“Matt and Dahlia are true champions of originality” says López. He continues, “Golden has assembled a roster of distinguished artists, curators, and craftspeople, each bringing a distinct vision to their work. As a director shaped by experience and the wild beauty of our world, I feel compelled to draw deeper from my craft, to create work that entertains and moves. This is the company that knows what a spectacle means.”

“Jonatán’s approach to filmmaking is holistic, exploratory, and precise, aided by his vast technical vocabulary in filmmaking, his skills as a former editor and CD, a lot of courage, and a true generosity in spirit.” Writes EP Dahlia Stone, “You feel the care he has for his talent and crew in every innovative spot, along with a true love of craft; Golden is built on key values of deep collaboration, kindness, and creative excellence and pursuit; Jonatán could not be a better fit for our phenomenal roster.”

Golden LA managing director Matthew Marquis added, “From acclaimed short-form projects to major brand campaigns, Jonatán brings imagination and craft to every frame. He’s a storyteller who pushes boundaries while staying grounded in authenticity, and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome him into the Golden family.”
