The comedy director joins the company’s growing US roster, bringing bold visuals, stylised storytelling, and award-winning craft.
Golden LA has added award-winning director Marc Sidelsky to its esteemed roster.
Known for his meticulous set design, crisp modern compositions, and unmistakably deadpan comedic voice, Sidelsky brings a distinctive filmmaking style rooted in narrative wit and rich visual language.
Sidelsky has made a name for himself by pairing cinematic flair with comedic nuance, crafting stories that blend high-concept ideas with grounded, relatable characters. Raised in South Africa and born in Toronto, he has shot work across the globe with collaborators ranging from contemporary dance troupe Pilobolus to footballer Bukayo Saka and martial arts legend Chuck Norris.
Sidelsky began his career as a creative researcher at a commercial production company before leadership invited him to direct a Volkswagen spot. A subsequent short film for a church gained industry attention and secured him a place on the Saatchi & Saatchi New Directors’ Showcase at Cannes, officially launching his professional directing career.
His commercial portfolio includes campaigns for Adidas, KFC, Nike, Spotify, Captain Morgan, and Vodafone. His music video for Canadian band Dearly Beloved, Close Encounters, won Best Music Video at Ciclope Africa, and his work has earned global recognition including: Silver Clio for Direction, Silver at 1.4 Awards (Branded Content), Grand Prix at Ciclope Africa, Wood Pencils at D&AD (Direction, Fashion), Bronze Pencil at The One Show, Multiple Silver Craft awards at Kinsale Sharks
“Golden LA’s work is creatively exciting,” said Sidelsky. “Once I met Marquis and Stone, the human component was a massive draw, too. They’re warm, driven, creative leaders who understand my work, they’re the perfect people to help me reach new heights as a filmmaker. Golden feels utterly modern and innovative, complete with gifted designers and digital artists who can maximise the potential of every job. I couldn’t be happier joining them.”
Matthew Marquis, Managing Director of Golden LA, added: “Marc and his films are a natural fit with us at Golden. His cinematic style is undeniably eye-catching. The way he executes his vision is inventive and enthralling. We’re thrilled that he’s decided to come on board, and we can’t wait to see what’s next for him.”
