Jake Oleson joins Leap Year for editorial representation
The multidisciplinary artist signs with the post arm of Voyager for commercial editing work.
A new signing at Leap Year sees multidisciplinary artist and editor Jake Oleson join the post-production division of Voyager for editorial representation.
Oleson brings experience across branded content, immersive audiovisual projects and experimental shorts, with a storytelling style shaped by his background as a director, editor and musician.
His commercial work includes projects for brands such as Gatorade, Airbnb, Facebook and P&G, with recognition including Vimeo Staff Picks and screenings at SXSW and Runway ML’s AI Film Festival.
“Jake’s the real deal holistic artist that you always dream of working with,” said Leap Year Founder Andrew Hutcheson. “His passion for his craft and his creative discipline are a constant inspiration. In the decade-plus that we’ve known each other, I’ve always been trying to find ways for us to collaborate more closely, so this is a deeply fulfilling moment for me personally. I can’t wait to see what he has in store.”
Oleson began his career during the rise of the DSLR filmmaking movement, cutting his own short films and experimental pieces. His editorial voice is shaped by a combination of musical intuition and an eye for visual storytelling, with a focus on work that centres the human spirit.
“When Charles reached out about Leap Year, it just made sense,” said Oleson. “We’ve worked together for years and there’s a shared language between us creatively. So much of the work we’ve made, then and now, has been driven by the same desire to tell grounded, human stories that matter. What Charles, Andrew and Kira are building is so aligned with the work I care about. It’s exciting to step into this new chapter with old friends and collaborators who are really building something special.”
In addition to his commercial work, Oleson continues to explore new creative formats combining music, technology and film. His VR piece Currents, commissioned by Vimeo for Apple Vision Pro, premiered at SXSW. Projects such as Given Again and Flux blend original music with immersive visual storytelling, including collaborations with artists including RL Grime and Zayn Malik.
Since joining Leap Year, he has already begun work on new projects, including a recently completed campaign due to premiere later this month.
