Kids welcomes Benjamin Nicolas
Nicolas has become an accomplished director in Canada and the US, developing a real gift for working with actors capturing raw, natural moments.
Back in 2005, Benjamin Nicolas shot “a little movie” with two buddies. Those two buddies were Jerome Benadiner and William Touitou, co-founders of Kids.
When Benadiner and Touitou reconnected with Nicolas, they went straight back to those magical first moments. The first time they held a camera: “So… when the red dot’s on, that means it’s recording, right? I think?” Their first actors (a.k.a. their friends): “Okay, do I say ‘Rolling’ before ‘Action,’ or the other way around?” They had no clue what they were doing but like so many, they learned by doing.
Since then, Nicolas has traveled the world, moving seamlessly between fiction, documentary, and advertising, always with films elevated by sharp direction and stunning cinematography. He’s racked up awards, being named Director of the Year by shots, multiple Clio and One Show wins, and built a singular voice in the commercial landscape.
Nicolas has become an accomplished director in Canada and the US, developing a real gift for working with actors capturing raw, natural moments. His films dig into the beauty of everyday life, always keeping humanity, both its fragility and its strength, front and centre.
So it feels only right that Nicolas is now joining the Kids roster in France, back with the family, this time to make “big films” together.
