Moirai signs director Sing J Lee
Following the release of his Sundance-winning debut feature, The Accidental Getaway Driver, Sing J Lee joins Moirai for UK commercial representation.
Moirai announce the signing of acclaimed writer and director Sing J Lee.
This marks a new chapter for Lee as he deepens his creative presence in the UK, following the successful US theatrical release of his debut feature film, The Accidental Getaway Driver, which premiered at Sundance and won critical praise.
Born in Manchester and of Hong Kong descent, Lee is known for his emotionally charged visual storytelling, often exploring the human condition with a distinct and cinematic style. His breakout short films earned early accolades, including BBC’s Best of the North, and led to a commission from the British Council to adapt A Midsummer Night’s Dream as a sci-fi short.
Lee’s commercial and music work has garnered global attention and industry awards, with campaigns for brands like Adidas, Google, Amazon Music, Havana Club, Cass Beer, and G-Star. His creative direction has won multiple Clio Awards and Cannes Lions. In 2019, Variety named him one of its Top Ten Storytellers to Watch. His music collaborations include Pharrell, Alicia Keys, Charli XCX, Donald Glover, Raye, The Killers, and Muse, with work featured and recognised by the VMAs and The BRIT Awards.
In 2023, Lee’s select film work was exhibited at the Barbican Centre as part of the Carrie Mae Weems: Reflections for Now showcase. That same year, he was named a BAFTA Breakthrough Fellow.
“Moirai is dedicated to representing innovative and visionary talent, and Sing J Lee is a perfect addition to our roster,” said Andrew Porteous, Co-founder of Moirai. “We are excited to collaborate and support his creative evolution, offering new opportunities across the UK and beyond.”
“I’m thrilled to join Moirai and to be working with a team that shares my creative values,” said Lee. “The UK has long been a place of bold, original storytelling, and I’m looking forward to making work that continues to challenge, connect, and inspire across all formats.”
