Pulse welcome the acclaimed directing duo WAAAW, comprised of Jack Antoine Charlot and Sidney Van Wichelen to its UK roster.

Known for their genre-defying, boundary-pushing approach that seamlessly fuses live-action with animation, the France and Belgium-based pair are an exciting addition to Pulse’s evolving talent line-up.

With ten Vimeo Staff Picks and a host of international festival honours to his name, Charlot is a celebrated animation director whose work is grounded in bold character creation and immersive storytelling. From Mika’s Lollipop to the Netflix documentary Big Flo & Oli, his projects offer a perfect marriage of visual flair and emotional depth.

Named Cannes Lions' 2022 Director of the Year, Van Wichelen brings a distinctive aesthetic to both advertising and short-form work. Known for his vibrant imagery, well-crafted narratives, and sharp humour, his films consistently strike a chord with global audiences.

Together as WAAAW, Charlot and Van Wichelen have created a distinct creative identity defined by hyperreal visuals, surreal comedy, and a nuanced take on culture and youth. Their growing portfolio includes campaigns for Adidas, Nike, Swatch, McDonald’s, and Asus, as well as music videos for leading contemporary artists.

Speaking on their signing, Charlot and Van Wichelen said: "We’re only interested in making films that hit hard, that make people go 'woah'. Whether it’s surprise, awe, fascination, or straight-up goosebumps, we aim to spark real emotion. We do that by blending grounded, real-world imagery with high-end visual effects, not the loud kind, the clever, precise kind. Our aim is always sharp, bold, and tasteful.

Pulse has consistently backed its directors with serious craft, smart instincts, and killer taste. From our very first conversations, they got us, our vision, our vibe, our DNA. Teaming up was a no-brainer. We're all in."

Jamie Walker, Managing Director at Pulse, added: "We were immediately blown away by Jack and Sid’s ability to combine unique visual storytelling with exceptional VFX and animation. Their films have cinematic scale and an emotional core, which perfectly complements the kind of ambitious, culturally resonant work we aim to produce. We’re thrilled to welcome them to the Pulse family."

This partnership marks a compelling new chapter for WAAAW, aligning with Pulse’s mission to champion innovation and craft across its creative output.
