Square and Entropico release Good Neighbours
Entropico and director Kaius Potter celebrate community and culture in Square Australia’s must-watch socuseries, Good Neighbours.
Looking for your next great restaurant, bar, or neighbourhood stroll recommendation?
Square and Entropico have released Good Neighbours, a compelling three-part docuseries directed by acclaimed filmmaker Kaius Potter. The series, described by Concrete Playground as equal measures of Parts Unknown, How I Built This and The Bear, spotlights the independent hospitality venues and entrepreneurs who form the backbone of Sydney’s most vibrant communities.
Good Neighbours, hosted by chef Joel Bennetts, traverses iconic Sydney neighbourhoods from the Inner West to Bondi Beach, to explore the central question: what does it truly mean to be a good neighbour in the competitive world of hospitality?
The series is the latest release in a years-long partnership between Square and Entropico, and leverages Entropico’s expertise in long form storytelling, the team behind Netflix's ONEFOUR: Against All Odds and ESPN/Disnety+'s and Lane Violation.

Director Potter, known for his culturally relevant, beautifully crafted films, brought his signature style to the project. Potter, who is self-taught by documenting the subcultures he was immersed in, leveraged his flair for intimate verité scenes, edgy camera movement and boundary-crossing mixed media, to tell the personal stories of resilience, generosity, and mutual support among venue owners like those at Happyfield, Lox In A Box, and Earl's Juke Joint.
“Diving into a long-form series to tell grassroots community stories was honestly a dream,” says Potter. “The challenge was shooting in open venues that were buzzing the entire time. A curated mixed-media approach let us catch real moments as they unfolded. Interviews were shot digitally, but most of the b-roll was a mix of long-lens observation, up-close fisheye, 35mm photo bursts and 16mm film. Square backed that vision from day one, even when they couldn’t always see what we were capturing in real time, and the texture we captured feels like the truest, most tactile version of these neighbourhoods.”
"The Good Neighbours series perfectly embodies Entropico's mission to fuse great advertising with great entertainment," shares Entropico GM Kyle Blanshard. “This is a distinctive piece of brand storytelling because Square's connection to these neighbourhoods is so well established and genuine. Kaius Potter's unique ability to connect with local culture and craft emotionally resonant stories makes this a must-watch heading into Sydney summer, a beautiful celebration of the collective spirit of Sydney. It’s high craft, authentic storytelling and real-world cultural impact for one of our favourite partners: Square."
“Being a good neighbour is about more than business. It’s about showing up for your community,” says Square Creative Director Kae Yen Wong. “Sydney’s venues are the soul of their neighbourhoods, creating spaces where people connect, belong and grow. Working with Entropico and Kaius helped us tell those stories in a way that truly captures that spirit.”
“We ourselves are a community-first company that started in Sydney, so it’s been such a pleasure to celebrate other independent Sydney businesses that are pushing our collective culture forward,” remarks Blanshard.
