Fifty years seems an excessively long time to wait for a music video, but for this intriguing new promo for Talking Heads’ Psycho Killer, we’ll allow it.
Despite being made half a century after the song’s 1977 release, the video - directed by Mike Mills and starring Saoirse Ronan - feels right on time, its themes striking a chord with a new generation of fans.
Sidestepping the violent and bloody imagery you might expect from a track about a psychotic killer, Mills instead weaves a disorienting narrative about the slow mental unravelling of a young woman trapped in the monotony of modern life and overwhelmed by creeping existential dread.
