Director Rollo Hollins takes the reins with a swagger all his own, delivering a campaign that winks, nudges and still manages to land with real impact.
At the core of U is a simple promise: “lose yourself in what you love”. It’s a line that slips easily across every genre but always carries U’s unmistakable personality. U Talking to Me? takes that promise and gives it a twist, with the legendary Bill Nighy lending his voice (because who else could make shouting “U” sound this good?), sparking a run of comic confusions before the big reveal: he’s been talking about the platform all along.
The result is a launch that feels different from the sea of streaming ads. Cheeky, memorable and a reminder that U is nothing without its viewers.

Hollins said, of the campaign: “I like to think I have a (Liam Neeson voice) special set of skills. Creatives know what they’re going to get from me, but the goal is always to surprise and delight with a sneaky bit of heart.”
“As much as I love throwing a camera about, dialogue forces a different tempo in a spot. I love making fast work, work that hits an audience and drags them along for a ride, but I’ve recently been wanting to play with that pace in the work I make.”
“A lot of it came from us literally shouting ‘You/U’ at each other on Zooms, in cabs and on set breaks. The creative was so strong from the start that my job was really just about translating it to screen and amping it up.”
“Also I got to ask Bill Nighy to say U, sixteen billion times. Sometimes I play the raw session recording in my studio for lols.”
