Janna Kay Swanson just leveled up to Editor in Uppercut’s Atlanta office.

Born and raised in Atlanta, she’s proof that Southern hospitality plus razor sharp instincts equals pure knockout in the edit bay.

Her origin story? In a senior year college advertising class she discovers post production is an actual career path, and she never looked back. After starting out in the agency world, she found her home at Uppercut where, as she puts it, “Uppercut took a chance on me and trained me from the ground up. The mentorship from all of our editors has been incredible, and what’s special is how all three offices, NY, LA, ATL, feel so tightly knit. There’s always someone ready to share advice, jump in to help, or let you pick their brain. I can’t wait to pay it forward as the next wave of editors rise up.”

Her breakout? The 2022 AICP Camp Kuleshov Awards, where she recut Dolly Parton as a villain and walked away with the National Lev Award, Camp K’s highest honour. Lesson learned: trust your gut, push boundaries, and remember, if Dolly can be the bad guy, anything is possible!

“This is a massive moment for our Atlanta office,” says Founding Partner Micah Scarpelli. “Janna Kay’s Camp K win was a glimpse of her bold voice as an editor, and we’re so excited to see what she’ll create next.”

When she’s not cutting, she’s sketching, painting, or walking her pup (an honorary team member). With this promotion, Swanson joins Uppercut’s roster of editors across NY, LA, and ATL, bringing Southern charm, sharp instincts, and fearless storytelling to every project.
