In this immersive, animated promo for rapper Jianbo’s track For The Honour, Stink director Dan French brings to life a dystopian and distorted underground cyber-world bursting with surreal happenings and dark details.
Leaning into a stylised aesthetic that nods to GTA and PS2-era graphics, the story spirals through a series of vignettes exploring the meaning of ‘honour’, and Jianbo’s conflicted experience of it, while elements of Asian identity and internal struggles are layered throughout.
The bold visuals were inspired by the cinematic language of Hong-Kong filmmaker Wong Kar Wai, the urban sprawl of Tokyo, and the neon tones of cyberpunk futurism, as well as real cultural undercurrents in Jianbo’s life.
