Directed by Nicole Pott through VCCP’s in-house studio Girl&Bear, this impactful new film from charity Prostate Cancer delivers an urgent rallying cry: it’s about time we stood up to the most diagnosed cancer in England.
Narrated by actor David Tennant and set to a soundtrack by alt-J, the spot follows 11-year-old Nikki as she races to protect her father from a threat he cannot see coming. Symbolising the role families and communities play in tackling the disease, the story highlights how everyone has a part to play, from helping men know their risk, to fundraising for research, to calling for systemic change.
Many of those involved in the production had personal connections to the disease, including nurse Michael Lewis from the West Midlands – himself successfully treated for prostate cancer – who makes a cameo appearance in the film.
