Toronto-based production company The Salmon announce the addition of director Sean Meehan to its roster for Canadian representation.

Originally from Australia, Meehan developed his craft through hands-on experience in the camera department, progressing from camera assistant to director of photography. Since transitioning to directing in 2003, his work has been recognised by every major global award show, including the Cannes Lions, D&ADs, London International Awards (LIA), and The One Show.

Meehan is widely regarded as an accomplished performance director and cinematographer. His portfolio includes global campaigns for brands such as Volkswagen, Samsung, Toyota, Subaru, Amazon, AT&T, and Expedia. With a storytelling-driven approach, he has a knack for crafting natural and effortless connections between brands and audiences, whether orchestrating a heartfelt duet for Uncle Ben’s, delivering a musically driven spot for Volkswagen set to Mr. Roboto, or warming hearts in an emotionally charged insurance ad for AXA.

“Whether it’s sincere or comedic, there’s always real, relatable human experience throughout Sean’s work. I should know because I am a real and relatable human, despite all the rumours on the internet that suggest otherwise,” said Dave, co-founder of The Salmon and one-half of the directing duo Adam & Dave. “Sean also shoots most of his films himself, bringing his unique vision in scale and scope to each piece.”

Co-founder Adam added, “We’ve admired Sean’s work for a long time. He brings a visual richness and emotional sincerity that pulls you in from the very first frame, which makes me experience something inconvenient, called ‘feelings.’ We also love that he’s a fellow Commonwealther, with matching King Charles back tattoos to ours.”

Meehan’s short film Lost Face, which he wrote, directed, and shot, was selected for nearly 200 international film festivals, collecting over 50 awards and earning a place on the Oscar shortlist.
