Stadium Creative Group welcome Emmy-winning director Julian J Acosta to its commercial roster.
Acosta is celebrated for his poetic realism and emotionally resonant storytelling across commercials, music videos, and long-form projects.
Born and raised in Bakersfield, Acosta’s work is deeply shaped by his lived experience, navigating the space between cultural identities and using storytelling to explore humanity, resilience, and the rhythms of everyday life. After graduating from Brigham Young University, he began his career at prestigious companies like RSA and The Directors Bureau.
Acosta’s commercial work includes campaigns for Fox Sports, Delta Airlines, and Porsche, earning both an Emmy and a Webby nomination. In the music world, he has directed videos for John Legend, Paramore, M.I.A., and The Beach Boys. His short film What Bitch? premiered at major festivals before being acquired by HBO, and he recently co-directed The 7 Faces of Jane, starring Gillian Jacobs and produced by Roman Coppola. His hybrid film project Aberdeen is currently being adapted into a feature.
Most recently, Acosta directed episodes of Coolie, a period drama starring Louise Wong and Joseph Chang. Next up, he’ll helm Up River, a Black List script set in South Central LA, and Alaska, a dark comedy produced by Danny McBride’s Rough House Pictures.
“Great storytelling isn’t just about spectacle, it’s about people, the unexpected corners of their lives, and the emotions that shape them,” said Acosta. “I’m drawn to stories that challenge identity, celebrate resilience, and find adventure in the familiar. Stadium is a place where directors can take real creative swings while executing at the highest level. That’s exactly the kind of environment I want to be in.”
“I’ve known Julian’s work for a while, he’s made some truly iconic pieces,” said Samy Mosher, Founder of Stadium Creative Group. “But as good as his work is, getting to know him as a person has been even more impressive. He’s caring, passionate, and inspiring, someone who elevates every project and everyone around him. He’s a star, and we’re proud to support this next chapter with him.”
Acosta’s signing underscores Stadium Creative Group’s commitment to championing visionary directors and helping brands craft bold, human-centered stories with depth, ambition, and cinematic precision.
