Station Film welcomes versatile production talent Francesco Soru as Executive Producer.
A sought-after production pro, Soru joins the company following a five-year freelance run as a producer for Station’s directors Declan Whitebloom, Thomas Beug, Seyi Peter-Thomas and Brendan Gibbons. Well versed in the company culture, Soru’s new role as staff Executive Producer enables him to take his work collaborating with directors, developing innovative work, and cultivating strong relationships with agencies and clients to the next level.
“Station is a perfect fit for me,” said Soru, “especially with Stephen Orent and Caroline Gibney running the company. It’s pretty amazing being able to watch them in action and learn from them. I also like the family sensibility at Station where nurturing is second nature, be it with talent, agency or client relationships.”
“Francesco was a natural choice for us,” said Orent, Founding Partner, Station Film. “Working so closely with him the past 5 years it was clear he was the one. He brings all the intangibles that are near and dear to Caroline and me. He’s charismatic, warm, energetic, thoughtful and a people person. We’re excited to see him thrive.”
“He’s also the epitome of grace under fire,” added Gibney, Founding Partner, Station Film. “And that’s a rare and great quality to find.”
Soru muses that producing is like working on a 1000-piece puzzle knowing that as soon as you get close to solving it someone else will walk over and dump the exact same 1000-piece puzzle on top of it. “My mind won’t allow me to focus on a single task without immediately losing focus,” he said. “But having 10, 20 or 50 things to focus on at the same time allows me to calmly juggle them all.”
Soru landed in production right out of college when a friend asked him to take over her internship at Red Car Editorial, then worked his way up through the New York commercial production ranks at companies like Biscuit, Reset, First Ave Machine and Smuggler. He also worked direct-to-client with Paris-based luxury, fashion and culture agency Mazarine producing for clients including Chanel. Additionally, he has produced campaigns for Tom Ford, Home Depot, Nike, ESPN, NerdWallet, GM and Prudential, among others.
Soru is a first-generation Italian immigrant, born and raised in Brooklyn. He attests to hard work and family - he is a dad of three - being influential to his success and found that same sensibility in the culture at Station. “Station’s approach is about enduring relationships, always with creative and production excellence.”
