What's under Kohler's black veil?
NM Talents Boo George and Mik Allen capture Laura Kim in Kohler’s bold new collaboration.
Shot in New York last year, this new film for Kohler featuring Laura Kim was directed by NM Production’s Boo George and lensed by NM’s Mik Allen.
The collaboration brings together Laura Kim, Creative Director of Monse and Oscar de la Renta, with Kohler’s new Veil Smart product, blending her refined aesthetic with the brand’s bold, minimalist design.
The film effortlessly marries the elegance of Kim’s self custom-designed dress with the innovation behind Kohler’s latest release. Both Kim and Kohler share a belief in design’s power to transform the everyday and reveal unexpected beauty.
Produced by Makers, the film moves from the streets of 5th Avenue to the rooftops of Brooklyn blending scale and intimacy in a way that mirrors Kim’s own aesthetic. Throughout the film, Kim's bespoke dress, which debuted at the New York Fashion Week, provides a gentle sense of constant motion contrasting against New York's striking architecture.

Boo George said: “Lately, I’ve found myself stepping outside my usual world of fashion, this project being a perfect example. I have been really enjoying exploring new projects and I’m incredibly grateful to Kohler and Makers for trusting me to bring it to life. New York is one of my favourite cities, so this was a real pleasure to shoot, and working with the always-inspiring Laura made it even more special.”
Mik Allen added: “I had another chance to collaborate with Director Boo George, this time in the vibrant and cinematic city of New York. Blending fashion and street style photography gave us the elements we both love to shoot, as we worked on the latest Kohler product film. Being asked to shoot a toilet was a career first, but having the freedom to bring our shared style to it made for a unique and memorable opportunity. With the support of an incredible local East Coast crew brought together by Makers, it was one to remember. The final shot, Laura Kim on a Brooklyn rooftop, the setting sun casting a glow over Manhattan’s iconic skyline was a fitting end to a great week".
