Created for Sprite by Atlanta agency Majority and directed by William Stefan Smith through Biscuit, the ad sees Jalen Hurts coolly deflect a load of batty queries from an excitable journalist.
Titled Success Hurts, the spot marks first time an NFL player has starred in a Sprite commercial and continues the 'Obey Your Thirst' campaign started in 1994.
Displaying his signature cool, Hurts is harangued by the reporter in various locations, from restaurants to tailor shops, until he finally gives a rather surprising answer to the question, “is Sprite the key to your success?”
“Jalen shows up as his true self at all times, which is the main check-box for us when pursuing talent,” said AP Chaney, Senior Creative Director, Sparkling Flavors, Coca Cola North America, “his leadership and refusal to conform and cave to pressure make him a perfect fit for Obey Your Thirst.”
