Films confined to a single location tend to have to rely on snappy dialogue or high drama to keep the action interesting, but in her cracking music video for German duo Used, Veronika Bolotina instead finds endlessly interesting ways to shoot a young woman's slow descent into despair.
Concerning two women temporarily sharing a new apartment, Lazy Morning turns the initial joy of flat-hunting into a depressing cycle of rejection and mounting frustration.
Shot through Cobblestone Filmproduktion, the promo cleverly plays with aspect ratio, pacing and camera position to add to the sense of claustrophobia, albeit in a stylish and engaging fashion.
