Moves this week at W+K Amsterdam, Irene, Serious Pictures, Uncle, Mad Cow, Another Film Company and Concrete Pictures
Wieden + Kennedy Amsterdam has appointed Ryan Lietaer as group account director for the Coca-Cola global account. He joins the agency after ten years with JWT - first in Toronto, then New York and most recently, London. At JWT New York, Lietaer was global account director on Diageo's Smirnoff portfolio.
Parisian production company Irene has signed director Seb Edwards for French commercials representation. Edwards has shot for Goodyear, Sony Playstation, Nokia, Total and the BBC. He is repped by Academy in the UK and joins fellow Academy directors Si&Ad, Chris Dada and Nick Gordon who are also repped by Irene in France.
Serious Pictures has signed comedy director Greg Popp for UK commercials representation. Popp was group executive producer and SVP at DDB Chicago until he left last year to get behind the camera full time. While at DDB he worked on and co-directed a number of the successful Real Men Of Genius spots for Budweiser. He has since shot for Alltel, Toyota, McDonald's, M&M Mars, Budweiser, Labatt, Burger King and Subway.
Hip-hop and R&B music video director Benny Boom has joined the roster of Santa Monica production company Uncle for exclusive commercials representation. Boom, a protege of veteran promo director Hype Williams, has shot videos for most of the top hip-hop acts including P. Diddy, Nas, Nelly and Kelly Rowland of Destiny's Child. Although a comparative newcomer to commercials he was most recently with HSI and has shot for Gatorade, Honda for the Italian market and a PSA for Moveon.org.
Canadian director David Popescu has joined Mad Cow. Popescu began as an art director at Leo Burnett before moving to McCann-Erickson where he started directing, moving behind the camera full time in 2000. He has shot for Labatt, BC Lotto, General Motors, Casinorama and most recently for Score.
Director's rep Nicky Fleming, formerly of Godman, has moved to Another Film Company.
Television branding services company Concrete Pictures has taken on broadcast producer Laura Gillespie, art director Mike Yoon and designer/animator Tom Schiro. Gillespie joins Concrete after 12 years in the industry working at Starz! Encore and Hallmark where she produced for such cable networks as HGTV, Food Network, Discovery and Fine Living. Schiro comes to the company after stints as designer/animator with NBC, Unisys Corporation and Modern Video Productions, while Yoon has held executive positions with Telenium, Element, Film-East and WPHL-TV.
