So for the past week people have been buzzing about this Reporters Without Borders spot that shows 2 kids, unsupervised, in a room, getting hyperactive and wrestling. Then a camera's stuck in the corner and they 'behave'. The strap says something like "we're more civilised when we know we're being watched". So any sentient being would realise in about 10 seconds that there are 2 major freaking issues with this. 1) Children stuck in a room for 2 hours SHOULD get bored and hyper and start tryng to release their pent-up physical energy (unless you're in the States in which case you're expected to sit docile and drugged on ritalin staring at a TV screen) and 2) Think about that strap for a minute. It's basically a justification for unrestrained surveillance. Why not stick a camera in the corner of all of our homes and see how well behaved we all are then. If anyone knows how 1 or 2 reinforce a positive brand message for RWB please let us know...
