STUDIO AKA, one of London’s most innovative animation companies, has joined New York-based Blacklist’s international roster of animation, mixed media and live action visual directors. For over a decade, STUDIO AKA has brought a distinctive aesthetic eye and unique methodology to commercial projects for brands such as Lloyds TSB Bank, BBC, Guinness and BUPA, and has produced several acclaimed short films, including director Grand Orchard’s Oscar-nominated, BAFTA and Sundance Prize-winner A Morning Stroll, Marc Craste’s BAFTA and Cartoon D’Or-winning Jo Jo in the Stars, and director Philip Hunt’s BAFTA-winning adaptation of Oliver Jeffers children’s book Lost and Found. After a successful first collaboration on a print and TV campaign for Hertz and creative agency DDB New York earlier this year, STUDIO AKA director Christopher Gray recently re-teamed with Blacklist for another high-profile US job: the opening sequence for the 2012 AICP Show & Next Awards. The two are currently in production on another Hertz project as part of an on-going campaign.
