As the big game approaches, here’s a roundup of the best spots to look out for during Sunday’s brotherly affair.

Super Bowl XLVII is set to be a big one. Game day spots have become just as important as the on field action in the eyes of spectators and those in the advertising business now find themselves being just as tactical as the NFL coaching teams in how they tackle the annual event, which this year takes place at the New Orleans Superdrome, pitting the Baltimore Ravens against the San Francisco 49ers.

This week we witnessed a slew of teasers, previews and full spots as a taster of what will be aired to a worldwide audience of over 100 million people across the world on Sunday evening and while they maybe haven’t harnessed the power of The Force two years ago, there’s certainly something for everyone.

The usual cluster of random brilliance appears in 2013 in the form of space babies, boomerang horses, and fun-loving OAPs, as well the usual addition of a few token celebrity appearances with Seth Rogan, Willem Dafoe and wrestling legend The Rock all playing a part.

On the field the two teams locking horns will be the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers, with the head coach of each team being brothers separated in age by only 15 months. John and Jim Haraugh – coaching the Ravens and 49ers respectively – will make history as they lead their sides out into battle as part of the first Super Bowl in history to see siblings facing each other on the sidelines. Meanwhile in adland, it’s Anomaly and RSA Films promoting brotherly love with their caign spot (see top of page) featuring a lovable Clydesdale horse which the agency is encouraging TV audiences to give a name to.

Elsewhere there’re car spots featuring teenage kids and aggressive robots for Kia and Hyundai, a great new Allstate Mayhem offering and The Rock - AKA Dwayne Johnson - getting heavy handed with some milk to get you going.

You’ve already heard from Biscuit Filmworks’ roster of directors including Noam Murro, Tim Godsall, Clay Weiner and Mike Maguire on their exploits for the big game, so check out the rest of the bunch below and check back here on Monday for more of the same.
