Sorcha Shepherd's Cannes Closet

Sun-drenched days and a constant supply of rose in Cannes can take its toll on the best of us. Caviar London's executive producer/company director Sorcha Shepherd takes us through her wardrobe wins for festival week.

1. Sunglasses are an obvious one yes, but you will notice these sunglasses are strapped to a 'frame chain'. I’m bringing back the 80’s bitches, get onboard and never lose your precious Warefarers again.

2. A Cannes Fan - I take a fan (or sometimes two) to Cannes each year. It’s my thing. They keep you cool when you feel like your face is melting from the combo of endless drinks, cigarettes and heat, but my real reason for taking a fan to Cannes is to be able to use it when I am making an impassioned point (over bouillabaisse at Gaston Gastounette, obvs)

3. Sandals, FLAT sandals. Do not bother packing heels for Cannes for two very important reasons. 1, Rose & 2, The Carlton Terrace steps. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

4. Fake Tan -  Come off it, do you really think the tan I rock in Cannes is real? I am Irish and live in a city that rains 70% of the time. 

5. Floaty, summery dresses, sigh. I love to get my frock on in Cannes. Make it a colour splash to offset that fake tan nicely! 

6. A hat is essential. Have you ever had sun stroke? It sucks balls. I know because I got it 12 years ago in Cannes & missed an epic party, all because I didn’t wear a hat. Don’t be that person. 

7. A beach tote big enough to hold your iPad, (to check out everything you did last night on Facebook. Did you think I meant for work? Pa!) plus suncream, berocca, mints, nurofen, that free branded towel you will get when you go to a villa party & all of your wristbands & invites. Oh and water, rehydration, rehydration, rehydration!

8. Chunky bling, because I like to bring a bit of ghetto chic to the Croisette.

9. Swimwear. I’m sure in your drunken haze, skinny dipping or jumping into the pool in your slightly faded pants sounded hilarious. It’s not & now someone has it on camera. So just come prepared. 

10. It’s very important to add a bit of a nautical theme to your Cannes closet. Red bikini +  blue nail polish = fabulous.
