Snickers to Make Super Bowl Return
Mars announces first commercial at the event since 2011 to continue its You’re Not You When You’re Hungry campaign.
Nutty caramel chocolate bar, Snickers, is to make a return to Super Bowl Sunday in 2015 with a TV spot planned through creative agency BBDO New York.
The commercial will continue the brand’s award-winning, global caign hinged on the tagline You’re Not You When You’re Hungry taking the concept back to where it began.
The Super Bowl is the US’s biggest marketing stage and the all-new commercial will debut on Sunday 1 February 2015 during Super Bowl XLIX on NBC.
Despite being the first Super Bowl spot for the brand since 2011, Snickers is an official NFL sponsor with a rich history of advertising during America’s most watched sporting event.
In 2010, the brand debuted its You’re Not You When You’re Hungry caign with a celebrated Super Bowl XLIV spot in which a hungry football player literally transforms into a slow-moving, wise-cracking Betty White due to hunger.
The humorous commercial immediately scored with media and consumers, skyrocketing to the top of several fan polls and the momentum propelled the caign across the globe, where today You’re Not You When You’re Hungry appears in more than 80 countries.
“We’re thrilled to bring our You’re Not You When You’re Hungry caign back to the place where it became a breakout hit,” says Allison Miazga-Bedrick, director, Snickers brand. “Super Bowl XLIX offers a massive platform to kick off what we expect will be an equally enormous year for Snickers.”
Since the Betty White ad aired the brand has launched a host of other comedic caigns including the spelling mistakes print work as seen above and below and there was also this memorable spot featuring Joan Collins.
Most recently the brand hooked up with Mr Bean star Rowan Atkinson for this commercial directed by Danny Kleinman. The new 30-second commercial will be supported by a fully integrated marketing caign starting in January 2015.
