Dating App Encourages Organ Donation Via 23red
23red has teamed up with the NHS and Tinder to encourage young singletons to donate organs and save lives.
If you find yourself desperately disheartened by the remnants of today’s dating pool and are often moaning about how long it’s been since you’ve met somebody half-decent, spare a thought for organ donors.
Dating and donating organs may be two unrelated concepts but 23red has put the two together and created a campaign to raise awareness of organ donation among 18-35 year olds.
Tinder has partnered with NHS Blood and Transplant to highlight how long it can take to find the right donor match.
A pink heart logo with a visual countdown has been uploaded to certain Tinder profiles, including reality TV star Jamie Laing (below) and Olympic medallist Jade Jones.
Interested singletons that swipe right to match with these profiles, will receive a message saying: “If only it was that easy for those in need of a lifesaving organ to find a match,” and they will be encouraged to donate and sign up to the NHS organ donor register.
The campaign attempts to highlight how many people die before a transplant is available to them.
“There are thousands of people waiting for a lifesaving organ. Tinder’s huge user base offers us a great opportunity to raise awareness of the importance of organ donation and bring it to the masses. We hope this will encourage registrations and save future lives,” says the agency’s senior planner Tilly Wilson.
So, in comparison, perhaps the dating waiting game ain’t so bad after all.
