Hollywood magic is never far from the silver screen as this series of mini spots created for the New York Times Magazine proves.
Helmed by Daniel Askill, the ten shorts feature the year’s best actors, among them Michael Fassbender, Melissa McCarthy (above) and Charlize Theron.
The series was created for the annual Academy Award issue and will be paired with accompanying photographs and a VR experience – available to watch here on your smartphone with a Google Cardboard viewer.
Each spot is inspired by Hollywood’s use of trickery and ability to make actors seemingly fly through the air – and so, the series’ theme is ‘take flight.’
The mostly monochrome spots are artistically stylised and feature each star in slow motion while completing various activities.

Benicio del toro can be seen jumping through a glass door (below).
While Mya Taylor re-enacts a classic Marilyn Monroe moment and struggles to maintain her modesty while standing above the wind machine.
