Ditch the diet and scrap the gym membership - this January, don't give in to old habits.

Instead, head down to Kwik Fit's South London garage in Elephant & Castle to participate in a series of car-inspired fitness classes, aptly called Fit Kwik in a project devised by Taylor Herring.

Each 30-minute session is free and will be held every Sunday morning in January by personal trainer Mikah Simpson.

The brutal regime will consist of flipping, lifting and throwing spare car tyres - promising to burn up to 1,200 calories per class.

While it may seem that Kwik Fit are on the straight and narrow, the project - which was initially created to promote fitness among the garage's technicians - has caught the eye of celebrity photographer Jim Marks, who has recreated the iconic Fred with Tires photoshoot (shot by Herb Ritts, above) with technicians Louis Lecointe, Paul Hernandez and Monuf Abdul (below).

If the classes become popular enough, the exercise sessions will be introduced nationwide for all Kwik Fit customers.

“We think everyone is exhausted by faddy diet plans and complicated exercise regimes – we want to put the fun back into fitness for the everyday person with a no-nonsense class that doesn’t take itself too seriously," says the garage's retail sales director Paul Boulton.

To find out more or to attend a class, send a registration email here. Or visit the website to access the Fit Kwik Tyre Workout (below). All you need is a tyre!
