Casey Neistat Goes Viral on Skis with the NYPD
Taking full advantage of storm Jonas over the weekend, the thrill-seeking director goes viral with his latest film.
Independent filmmaker, Casey Neistat, has taken full advantage of storm Jonas by snowboarding through Manhattan over the weekend.
After the public was warned by police to avoid driving in the dangerous conditions as unprecedented levels of snow swept crippling the city, Neistat did the opposite and set out with his camera team on skis and a snowboard.
The filmmaker, known for his often thought-provoking, fun and challenging footage, is seen flying through the Big Apple as he glides behind a vehicle past landmarks such as Times Square.
Stopping to interact with the public and even taking some fellow New Yorkers along for the ride, the thrill-seeking filmmaker is also captured holding the stars and stripes as he weaves around the city's slippery roads.
Since being uploaded to his YouTube page only a day ago, the video has had over four million views and continues Neistat’s feat of going viral with his films.
International press has also covered the video of the stunt, which is fittingly set to Frank Sinatra’s New york New York, and the city has since begun efforts to get back on track after being brought to a halt.
It isn’t the first time Neistat has ruffled the NYPD’s feathers. In 2011 he was fined for riding his bike outside of the designated cycle lane, inspiring a brilliant response in the form of a film (below) proving why sometimes the lane isn’t the safest place to be. He has also achieved success with his films for Nike's FuelBand.
