Following the launch of GoPro's GoPro Awards last year, budding filmmakers are continually being rewarded for experimenting with their cameras.

The awards distribute grants of up to $5 million to the content’s creators and promise to feature the clips on its GoPro Channel as well as distribute them on social media. Content is continually being submitted and winners are frequently selected, based on the content’s ability to engage, amaze and excite its audience.

Entrants are encouraged to go to great lengths to get their footage by pursuing their interests - something GoPro hopes will result in varied content submissions.

One of the examples of this is 14-year-old Orlando Getty, who is a recent GoPro Award winner following his minute-long clip that documents a stampede of elephants (below) who interact with his camera in South Africa.

"GoPro Awards creates exciting opportunities for our customers,” says GoPro's founder/CEO, Nicholas Woodman. “Whether it's helping them monetize their content in the form of financial rewards, helping to license their content to other businesses, or helping them get more exposure through our global social and media distribution channels, we're dedicated to sharing with our community. We believe this program enables our customers to further pursue their passions."
