Following news of Sir Roger Moore’s death yesterday, we’ve dug deep to reveal the actor’s best TV moments… and they go beyond his James Bond films.

Known as the ‘lover’ of all the Bonds, the 89-year-old passed away after a brief battle with cancer announced by his family on Twitter. Although he was famed for playing in legendary Bond films, like The Spy Who Loved Me, Octopussy and A View To a Kill, he also starred in Spice World and dabbled in the world of advertising, to play his iconic character and appear as himself.

We’ve listed our top five favourite Roger Moore ads – so, here’s to you Roger.

Sir Roger melts hearts and secures a “proper savings account” while taking a trip to his local post office. Smooth-talking the salesman, crooning the cashier girls, even smiling sweetly at the smoothie maker… it’s no wonder he bags a bargain. Moore’s performance in the ad doesn’t disappoint and he even raises his iconic eyebrow to the camera.

Proving he was in demand around the world, Moore starred in adverts as far reaching as Japan if this cheesy Toyota ad is anything to go by. Here he assumes the legendary role of Bond, quite literally flying through the air in his car, while girls lean out of a passing bus to blow him kisses.

Perhaps Japan was his favourite advertising region for he did not one but two ads (that we could find) for their national products. This 1988 spot sees a group of masked robbers chase a gown-wearing woman through the streets of Venice and onto an awaiting gondola. Luckily Moore isn’t far behind and he manages to smoothly and single-handedly jump on board to offer his lady a cigarette in true Moore-Bond style.

Wonder what grandma dreams about when she takes her afternoon nap? It’s probably not your grandad suggest Lowe with this Christmas ad for Tesco. Perhaps she's imagining herself as Bond’s accomplice? Promising to provide him with a hefty feast that will make him hungry for more...? Oh gran!

Inspired by Moore’s space-filled 1979 Bond film, Moonraker, this spot is a behind-the-scenes expose on how Moore completes his stunts. And milk seems to be the answer. Moore and his co-stars are featured on set and in-between takes, downing pint glasses of milk, because as the tagline says, it is supreme.
