Kinsale Young Sharks Winners Announced
Young creatives were asked to create memorable poster campaigns for the awards.
Memac Ogilvy copywriter Aditya Hariharan has been named winner of this year's Young Sharks competition for creatives under-26.
Beating entries from across 16 countries, who were all asked to create a poster for the Irish advertising awards. Hariharan's winning design [left], chosen by Ogilvy Ireland ECD Mike Mesbur, used a visual pun, with a shark fin turned around to create the base of a speech bubble, with the copy saying 'what does your work say about you?'
"I doodled around with different shapes and stumbled upon the shark fin/speech bubble layout, that I thought was quite interesting. After exhausting all shark-related puns, I decided to keep the headline simple too, so I put everything together, crossed my fingers, and hit submit!” said Hariharan of his winning poster.
The 24-year-old copywriter wins a trip to the Kinsale Shark Awards & Festival, taking place Thurs 21st - Sat 23rd Sept 2017.
Second and third places, meanwhile, went to Chris Kennedy's Carnival Winner [right], another visual pun-based poster that sees a Shark award being carried in a bag of water, fairground goldfish-style. Third place (which you can see on our Pinterest) went to João Vaz and Sebastião Seguro's illustrated SHAAAAAAAAARK.
