A Day in the Life of Rodrigo Valdes

09.00: A few days left prepping a big car project. We are scouting locations in Mexico City. Paco, my producer, looks a bit worried.  

12.28: After an hour in traffic we arrive at the office and test out some high-powered lasers we are using for the shoot.  The ray starts burning through anything if you leave it for more than a few seconds. Paco back there, still worried about stuff.

13.00: Half an hour later, we are still looking at the thing. 

16.40: Rehearsals with precision drivers. Two vintage cars chasing our hero car. I clearly cheated today, not every day is so cool that I get to play with lasers and car chases.

18.10: I need to get rid of some shots. No way we can fit them all in the schedule.

19.44: FaceTime with my daughter who is back in LA.  I've been away for three weeks now.

22.30: A great friend of mine and super-talented DoP, Emilio Valdes, has done a casting session for the main character. He sent the best casting videos ever.  Great soundtrack, lighting and a fun performance. He got the part and is now in trouble because I want to use him in front of the camera from now on. 

23.50: Ending the day scouting the streets in downtown Mexico City. Strange to see them completely empty.
