Content studio Archer's Mark has signed director James Burns for UK and European representation.
Burns is an award-winning director fast gaining a reputation for his eye-catching urban documentary style. Having come up through the ranks of Vice NYC, Burns cut his teeth in the fast-moving world of digital content, finding and producing stories all around the world, sometimes taking a role as presenter and becoming one of the faces of Viceland.
His debut short film, We Live This, was honoured with the Tribeca Film Festival’s Special Jury Mention in 2015 and got him onto Saatchi & Saatchi’s New Director Showcase. Since signing for Archer’s Mark, Burns has already helmed two projects through the company, for Superdry and Nightmares On Wax. Burns says his principal source of motivation is to "craft authentic stories of the human condition through the power of cinematic language".
"His work is intuitive and immersive, conjuring images that draw us deeply into the human experience," says executive producer Ben Whitfield. "His films typically capture the hustle and pulse of the city, telling stories rooted in human conditioning, touching hearts and making him an ideal director for any cultural brand looking to connect with younger generations."
