London-based VFX studio Freefolk has launched an internship programme to increase the number of women in the VFX industry and give pre- or post-grads valuable work experience.

Managing director Justine White discusses Freefolk's initiative to recruit more women in VFX: “It made sense to us to launch this on International Women’s Day as we really want to encourage more females to follow a career in VFX.  I started off as an artist at time when there were very few women in these sorts of roles and although this is slowly changing there’s still a long way before the male / female split is more equal.”

The programme, titled Futurefolk, involves granting a one-month paid position to two artists, one male and one female. The chosen interns will have the opportunity to work with the Freefolk team on both TV and commercial projects.

To enter, candidates must submit a two-minute reel of their best work to the Futurefolk website by 19 April 2018.
