Iconic Statues Gain Prosthetic Limbs in Handicap International Ad
#BodyCantWait, created by The Herezie Group, aims to raise awareness and funds for amputees.
In an effort to raise awareness for the hundreds of millions of people around the world in need of prosthetic limbs, The Herezie Group and Handicap International have created the #BodyCantWait project.
Poster for the campaign
The campaign involves placing prosthetic limbs on iconic broken statues around Paris, such as the Venus de Milo. It is a powerful concept to modify such well-known pieces of art, and it makes a strong point about how beloved these incomplete statues are, compared with how amputees are often ostracized in society.
Statue with a prosthetic arm
The purpose of #BodyCantWait is to spread awareness and raise funds for amputees who are in need of prosthesis, especially those in areas with few resources. A case study film, directed by the duo Hossegor, documents the story of one woman in a rural village who lost her leg in an accident and had to wait four years to be fitted with a prosthesis.

Handicap International aims to help people like this woman who live in areas with limited medical resources. With new 3D printing technology, the non-profit organisation will use the funds from the campaign to produce prosthetics on a large scale and help the thousands of war victims trapped in dangerous areas.
