72andSunny Sydney has named Micah Walker as executive creative director, while Bassam Abdel-Rahman has been appointed MD at 72andSunny Singapore.

Abdel-Rahman [pictured above, right] will join the Singapore team in September after spending two years as a global group brand director at 72andSunny Amsterdam. There, he led the global adidas and Samsung mobile accounts. Prior to that, he spent ten years working for international agencies such as BBH Asia Pacific, Agency.com London, Media Arts Lab London and Los Angeles and TBWALondon.

“It's incredibly exciting to have someone as well-rounded and driven as Bass to be on the team. 72andSunny runs in his blood,” said Johnny Tan, executive creative director, 72andSunny, APAC. “He'll help us build a super-distinctive culture and help add firepower to our work."

In the Sydney office, Micah Walker joins from Wieden+Kennedy Portland where he served as creative director for the past four and a half years. His clients included Samsung, Dodge Chrysler, Booking.com and TurboTax. Prior to his stint at Wieden + Kennedy, Walker was ECD at Sydney agencies including The Monkeys, Mojo and Leo Burnett. He was also previously a creative director and partner at Fallon London for four years.

“We wanted someone who had the perfect mix of local knowledge and a truly global track record, as well as having a wry wit and a good dose of mischief,” said Chris Kay, partner and managing director. “Micah was the only person we could find who would fit that bill, so we are pretty stoked he has decided to jump on board.”

"We’re stoked to be back home, close to family and good mates. And I’m genuinely excited to join 72andSunny and help the rest of the team here build something different and special,” said Walker.
