Riff Raff Films has signed artist filmmaker Andrew Thomas Huang to its roster.
LA-based Huang, who studied fine art and animation at the University of Southern California, is known for work which bridges the gap between video art and film.
He has worked extensively with Icelandic artist Bjork, Kelela, Perfume Genius, Sigur Ros, Thom Yorke, British director Joe Wright, and fashion designers Iris van Herpen and Gareth Pugh, among others. His work has been exhibited at The Museum of Modern Art, NYC; MoMA PS1; The Barbican Centre, London; and the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles.
“Like many artists I have always been a huge admirer of the worlds Andrew brings to life, whether they be for Bjork, Atoms for Peace, Sigur Ros, they are truly unique," says Matthew Fone, owner of Riff Raff. "But speaking to Andrew, what really stuck with me is the way he thinks. He doesn’t think of himself as an effects director, rather a director whose work is live action that sometimes need effects to add to the idea. Like everything we do at Riff Raff it is all bout the idea and how we can make that better and bring it to life. Andrew fits in perfectly with this philosophy.”
